What do you manufacture?
Our biggest focus is on the product being made from scratch with fresh fruit, no fillers, always fresh ingredients. We make muffins, pastries; we have a lunch menu with wraps and salads. We make our own pesto, our own cranberry sauce. I’d say that’s the biggest thing that’s made us successful.
Why are you located in Fall River?
I grew up in city all my life. I like the area that I opened up in. The building was very attractive to me, as well as the location.
What do you think Fall River’s best quality is?
The historic Highlands and the waterfont.
What’s the biggest business challenge you’ve overcome?
I’ve been lucky — haven’t really had any.
What motivates you to do your best?
I have a passion for this.
What qualities do you look for in an employee?
Neatness, a good personality — it’s not even so much their education, but that they have a passion for doing this.
What’s the most fun you have had on the job?
I like every day. I mean, not every day is peaches and cream. But I like knowing all of my neighbors and knowing that the people we deal with are from everywhere, not just Fall River. We get clients from afar.
What’s the first thing you do when you get in in the morning?
Start doing muffins.
What advice would you give to another business owner?
Follow your passion. If you don’t love it, it’s not going to be succesful.
Where do you see your company in 10 years?
I still see it right here. We’ve expanded several times. I like it here. People like it here.
How did you come up with a name for your business?
My secretary at my old job came up with it.
“I hope my employees understand that I ...”
Appreciate their hard work. It’s really, really like they don’t get a break. It’s hard work.
“The thing that surprises me most about running a business is ...”
To me I’m surprised that it took off so well so quickly. I didn’t expect it to be as popular as it is.
If we asked your employees to describe you, what would they say?
(He had his employees answer): A great person, very neat, a control freak, but he always has a smile on his face.
